Basically think of it like this: "Do i have many dozen of this material?" when a Ruined Shrine asks you for something. Rocky Coast and Blood Grove are the two i can think of currently. There are a small handful of Ruined Shrines that i never take, because the materials required are not plentiful enough to justify spending on each new run, especially considering that there are only 55 devo pts max, and over a hundred shrines. Ruined Shrines, on the other hand, cost you some materials, and they get more and more costly as you go. Now, Desecrated Shrines are always good, you get XP + Devo pt + item drops for free. Here i'll go into the above aforementioned detail. Go back to Normal and begin the first shrine run. Exit campaign.ĭo this same thing again in Ultimate. Talk to Bourbon, the Gatekeeper, and Sahdina again. Now go access the smuggler if you need to, and then exit campaign.Ĭreate a new campaign in Elite. Go kill Kellogg's Aether Flakes in the Burial Hill cave, grab the shrine behind him, then return to Devil's Crossing and talk to 3 NPCs - Bourbon, the Gatekeeper, and Sahdina (spirit guide, in the far back corner). Grab Merits, XP potions, gear and all that stuff. Go straight to the smuggler and apply mandates - you can right click them in the shared stash, no need to transfer them.
Normally you have to complete the Burial Hill quest first. Why Crucible? Because you can access the shared stash. Okay, the boost goes like this:Īfter the above prep work is done, log in to new alt (level 1) and start a new Crucible game. After the boost, you'll not struggle again until mid-Elite at the very earliest, assuming you have build-relevant gear and are a decent pilot. Which we'll go over next.įirst we have to do what i affectionately refer to as the "Merit Boost" - You can be level 15 - 18 after this, depending on variations such as reading notes. Now why did i just say "level 16" specifically? Because that's approximately the level your new alt will be after doing the first step of their new playthrough. Note that any components you may have applied to Lokar in a previous run may have to be removed before a level 16 toon can wear it. You already mentioned Lokarr set and XP Potions so i'll assume that you know to put them in the shared stash as well, for your new alt to access. Warrants, in case you've not found any yet, are exactly like Mandates, but for infamy with enemy factions. Whenever you kill a Nemesis, make sure to check for the Warrant drop. Mine go in tab 2, along with.Mandates + Warrants. An iron bar or 2 can't hurt either (iron exchange dude is next to the smuggler). Go to Korvan town and make sure to buy a couple Savior's Merits from the vendor at the bottom of the stairs. Log in to any of my level 100 toons who i know have the most factions at revered and plenty of gold iron on them. My approach is as follows:ĭecide on a general theme for the new build (obvious) and then put relevant gear into the shared stash, so your new alt will have nice things to wear alongside Lokar and have more fun.
Okay, questions addressed, let's dive right in. Loot ain't bad, but only if you successfully clear. More xp, why not.Ĥ - No, Cruci runs are for either testing your build or just for fun. When i'm doing a fresh run, sometimes i'll grab a bounty which i know will be on the way to where i'm going anyway.
Definitely helps you to absorb more of the game world while gaining xp and hopefully having fun as well. Bounties will encourage you to explore areas you might not have been to yet. Here i'd like to mention Bounties, as they were a favorite of mine in my early days. The only reason to play Normal / Elite is for Shrines.ģ - Main questline will grant tons of experience, and many side quests are conveniently located with a Shrine in their path. Everyone has their own approach, so here we go, in order:ġ - Wear Lokarr until you struggle to progress - hopefully at least 50, ideally 75 or 94Ģ - Best componenets are the ones that boost your damage, so you can shred anything in your way and smash though Norm / Elite as quickly as possible. Okay this thread had some good tips, and i'll try to be as comprehensive as i can, even tho RektByProtoss probably explains things just fine.
